The Spring Farm’s mission is one of change.

Changing the way people think about food. Changing the way people eat and appreciate food. Our mission is to connect our community to their local farmers and provide them with home grown food and meals.

Our Philosophy

The Spring Farm eliminates the distance that produce travels, making it more nutritious, accessible and flavourful. We believe that growing food locally builds a strong community, less dependent on the large-scale food industry. You benefit from a strong relationship between yourself and your farmer, which empowers you to be part of the food production process.

The Farm

The Spring Farm is a small-scale urban farm situated in downtown Huntsville, Ontario that uses 100% natural and organic methods to provide locally grown vegetables. We raise turkey, chicken and sell farm fresh eggs. The farm is located only five kilometres from downtown Huntsville, making our product truly local. We are in the process of preparing our fields for expansion and crop production. Through cover cropping and sourcing certified organic compost to improve our soil, we are hoping to have 10 acres of field ready for vegetable production.

With the popular demand for local, organic food, The Spring Farm is growing quickly. We grow and supply fresh vegetables, salads to go, and unique varieties of microgreens year-round to a number of local restaurants and retail stores across Muskoka. We also provide workshops and education to our community, school groups and even inmates on how to grow and cook organic food. We offer a unique catering program providing local, homemade meals to groups in Muskoka.

The Team

Jenny Spring and Oliver Wolfe

Jenny Spring and Oliver Wolfe are the entrepreneurs and creators of the business. They started The Spring Farm in 2014 when they recognized an opportunity to provide much needed local, organic produce to their community. Starting with 7 leased backyards in downtown Huntsville, they quickly fell in love with farming and have since expanded to running 2 acres of the Currie’s farm on Aspdin Road.

With a passion for cooking, growing and educating people about good quality food, Jenny and Oliver are always creating new ideas of how to give back to our community through their passion and expertise. Jenny has designed an organic gardening course for inmates through St. Lawrence College and will be teaching four classes in 2016/2017 at local jails. She also won the YWCA Young Woman of Distinction award for Young Entrepreneur in the spring of 2016. More recently, Jenny was featured on Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution website. Jamie even tweeted about her! An interview with Wei Chen on CBC’s Ontario Morning followed shortly after.

Andrea and Brian Currie

Brian and Andrea recently retired to Huntsville from Burlington after successfully running a software business for 25 years. Brian’s roots in farming as a child with his family in Milford Bay drew the two of them to acquire a 107 acre property off Aspdin and Bethune Rd North where they live now. Wanting to get back to farming in their retirement, Brian and Andrea partnered with Jenny and Oliver in the spring of 2016 to get the fields, which hadn’t been farmed in many years, back in working condition and provide new infrastructure to improve productivity. With Brian and Andrea’s extensive business expertise combined with Jenny and Oliver’s farming proficiency, a dream team has been set up to run the thriving Spring Farm Muskoka, providing the local community with organically grown produce and fresh free range chicken and farm fresh eggs.

The Crew

The Spring Farm would not run without the help of a dedicated group of volunteers and employees. We are proud to have hired locals in our community to help run the farm and to provide them with a living wage. We also owe a huge amount of gratitude to our selfless volunteers—we couldn’t do it without you!
